Welcome to Gloria's Writing Portfolio Wiki!

This is a wiki for my ENG101: Freshman Composition course. I will be using this site to do peer editing and to share my writing with the class.

To tell you a little about myself, I will post my introduction here once I have written it:

Assesement #6

Before I took this English 101 class I was always told through my high school years that I was a really good writer. I was always in honors English and did all my resding and writing assignments to the best of my ability. I can truely say that English is my favortite subject and that I love writing and do it as a hobby.

Now, that this is the fianl day of the class, I have realized that there is

more to writing than what I actually thought. I can now compare a college paper to a high school paper and say that my high school papers were poorly written. Throught this class I have learned various types of writing. I have learned various types of persuausion and how to keep the reader motivated . I am content for knowing now, how to cite and give credit to yuor sources in an essay. Paraphrasing is now something different than copying and pasting from the internet.

As hard as it seemed for me, I now know how to write an analysis paper without making it sound like a typical book report or a boring movie commentary. I love to speak my mind, especially when I am writing so learning how to write a paper without giving my persoanl opinion was a true striggle. Now, it is a writing barrier I have overcome and a writing mechanic to my benefit.

Writing a cause an deffect essay was the most exciting! I was thrilled to be able to be able to find ways to organize my writing so I could prove my central idea. Being able to write a paper which pertains to anybody was very satisfying beacuse I know that anyone could relate to it besides myself.

The research paper was probabaly the most enriching too. It gave us a achance to take a "field trip" out of the classroom and away from the computer screens so we could actually fumble through soem books and periodiacals. Yuo will be amazed by how much you learn from a single subject throgh the research assignment!Learing how to cite your sources is the valuable piece of this paper.

I have learned alot in this class, from learning how to use peer comments to rewrite an essay all the way to how to write a cause and effect essay using various techniques as including a motivator and a clincher. This class was more of a sociology-English class!

I am 17 years old and this is my first semester in college! I hope that I am ready for the wild ride ahead!! Good luck to others that are also sarting college!
